Herdade dos Alfanges is nestled in the heart of the Alentejo and is the perfect destination for an activity break with a good dose of relaxation thrown in.

The Alqueva dam is Europe's biggest dam and artificial lake. It is 48km away and offers lot's of different activities.
We are located in the bigger triangle of Évora, Beja and Grândola within the Évora district. Évora city, a UNESCO world heritage site, is only a 30 minute drive and filled with restaurants, museums and cultural activities.
There are many megalithic monuments and Roman ruins in the area that give proof that the area was inhabited since the early stone age

The three closest villages
VILA NOVA DA BARONIA. It is a typical Alentejo white washed village with cobbled streets, hidden little food shops bakery, pharmacy, ATM/Bank, restaurants, and a train station that has trains to Lisbon and Beja several times a day.
ALVITO is a nice little village with a castle which today is a luxury Hotel. There are several little shops and the São Cucufate Roman villa nearby.
VIANA DO ALENTEJO is well know through the gothic castle built in 1313.
It has two big supermarkets where you can find almost everything. Bakery, pharmacy, medical clinic, restaurants and several other small shops.
